Going For Gold

As you get a little older being active can become daunting at times, but thanks to First Step Sports Development partnership with Active Hull & Hull City Council you can now ease yourself into exercise with our over 55’s Active Gold sessions!

The Active Gold sessions are designed to help get anyone over 55 up and moving. It’s no secret that as you get a little older you start to ache and creak a little bit more than you use too, especially in key movement areas like your knee’s and back. So getting involved in regular exercise is not just a smart way to help reduce those aches and pains, it’s also a fun way to get more mobile.

Active Gold sessions aren’t just good for your joints though – regular exercise each week can also help with weight loss, lowering your risk of Coronary Heart Disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and dementia as well as improving your bone health.

Current government guidelines state that a moderately fit over 65 should be aiming for 150 minutes of activity a week, and it doesn’t just have to be in exercise classes. Taking a brisk walk to the shops, one of our sessions or even parking a little further from the door at the supermarket can all add up to keeping you moving and in shape for longer.

So don’t just sit around at home, come on down to one of our Active Gold sessions happening in a variety of locations across West Hull, and enjoy an hour a week of gentle exercise and chat for just £2 a week! As an added bonus you will also receive a free Active Hull water bottle for attending your first session.
